Safe Zone is a new mental health crisis support service for anyone living in Leeds, aged 11–17, and their parents/carers, who need someone to talk to a safe and confidential setting.
Safe Zone is staffed by experienced youth workers, from Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service (LSLCS), and The Market Place (TMP) who can offer around 45 minutes of emotional and practical support, COVID-permitting.
Due to COVID preventative measures, we are only able to provide prior appointment based support and are are unable to safely provide a social space for service users to unwind and have something to eat. (Social space provides young people around 20 minutes after their support to use any of the resources, ranging from games, crafts, food, and drink.)
Adapting to COVID-19, Safe Zone provides a hybrid approach combining telephone support and appointment based face-to-face from the following locations available on three nights from 18:00 to 21:00.
- Monday: The Market Place, LS1 6DG (above Hair City)
- Thursday: Dial House, LS15 7RW
- Sunday: Touchstone House, LS11 6JU
Safe Zone is a partnership between LSLCS and TMP, which brings together more than 50 years of combined experience of delivering effective and compassionate crisis services to young people which are both accessible and highly regarded.
LSLCS currently also provides Teen Connect, a helpline service open from 15:30–02:00 weekdays, 18:00–02:00 weekends, 365 days of the year that supports young people via phone, text and online.
Collectively, Safe Zone builds on this expertise to offer 11–17-year olds and their parents/carers one-to-one support with a Crisis Support Worker, who will offer a warm, compassionate, empathic, safe space to talk.

Safe Zone requires visitors to wear face coverings or face shields. You will have to sanitise your hands when entering the premises. A temperature check will be carried out by a Safe Zone staff member, following some questions regarding potential exposure to COVID-19. Individuals are required to maintain a safe two metre physical distance between others. Between you and the support worker, there will be a plastic shield in place to further prevent transmission. Following your visit, likely touched contact services will be wiped down. We appreciate your understanding and adherence to these measurements.
