Safe Zone is a crisis service for young people aged 11–17 in Leeds.
It is staffed by experienced youth workers and counsellors from The Market Place and Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service who can offer around 40 minutes of emotional and practical support.
There is also a social space to unwind and have something to eat. Young people will have 20 minutes after their support session to use any of the resources available in the social space. These include games, crafts, food, and drink.
Safe Zone is available three nights a week across three different locations in Leeds.
- Monday: The Market Place, LS1 6DG
- Thursday: Dial House, LS15 7RW
- Sunday: Touchstone House, LS11 6JU
How to access Safe Zone
11–15 year-olds: same day referral needed. This can be a referral from yourself, a parent or carer, or a professional. We will need details of how you will get to and be picked up from Safe Zone.
11 and 12 year-olds will need parental or carer permission to attend Safe Zone.
16 and 17 year-olds: you can either drop in or refer yourself. The latest we can accept a drop-in appointment is 9pm.
To make a referral, please call 0113 819 8189. Referrals will run on a first come first serve basis.
The phone line for referrals will be open 5.00pm–8.30pm.
The launch of the expansion of Safe Zone and the collaboration between Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service and The Market Place has unfortunately been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. For the moment, Safe Zone will be offering a phone-based service until it is safe to see people in person. We thank you for your patience during this challenging time and we’ll be up and running in full style as soon as we can!
