Group Work
The service provides 6-10 week Coping with Crisis groups. The groups are aimed at people who are frequently in crisis and are facilitated using a person centred approach to group work. At Dial House, valuable peer support happens between visitors and the idea of the group was to bring people together to share their expertise and experience in coping with crisis and to gain new ideas.
We also run ‘Coping with Christmas’ workshops in December.
In addition to the short term group work, there is a weekly Dial House Visitors Social and Support Group. This group is to provide support to people who are so lonely and isolated that this can become a mental health crisis. The group involves some structured activity, such as art work, cooking and discussions. It is also a place for people to come together to eat, chill out socialise. Although staff are present, the aim of the group is to bring together to support each other and build social relationships.
